Our story
Studio Samuel was founded by Samuel Richards, a designer with a sharp eye, a soft heart, and a not-so-secret obsession with beautiful things that actually do good. With roots in the art world and a degree in sustainable innovation, Sam set out to build a home brand that’s equal parts joyful, intentional, and refreshingly original.
As creators of rugs, textiles, wallpaper, and accessories, the studio is high on craft and low on ego. Think rich textures, soulful patterns, cheeky color names, and a wink of old-world romance, all grounded in responsible sourcing, low-waste production, and a mission to leave things better than they found them.

Impact
Samuel Richards founded Studio Samuel to reflect both aesthetic sophistication and a deep commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
Grounded in years of experience in the design trade with careers at ALT for Living and Eskayel and an MBA in Sustainable Innovation from the University of Vermont, Sam integrates sustainability into every aspect of the business, from responsible sourcing to lifecycle analysis.
His partnerships with Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) and other mission-driven organizations continue to guide the approach to ethical production and long-term impact. VBSR’s focus on sustainability, equity, and local resilience is woven into how the studio sources, produces, and evolves.
Believing that beauty should be thoughtful, elevated, and infused with a sense of joy, Studio Samuel is serious about design, but never too serious to have a little fun with it.
A portion of proceeds support The Trevor Project, dedicated to ending suicide among LGBTQ+ youth.
